What
I grew up playing club soccer and joined the California North Olympic Development Program. I went on to play at Mission San Jose, UC San Diego, and Imperial College London. I now coach a seventh-grade team at Convent & Stuart Hall in San Francisco.
Why it mattered
Soccer gives me friendships, fitness, and support for my mental wellbeing. At the moment, my goal is to participate regularly: playing, coaching, and training.
It also shapes my interest in motor learning. I want to understand how practice and the rest of my life relate to how I perform.
My role
Captain in my final year at Mission San Jose and UC San Diego; first-team player at Imperial; now a youth coach.
Outcome
Athlete of the Year at Mission San Jose in 2014. At UC San Diego, our team won the league and regionals and reached nationals. At Imperial, I played university fixtures and joined the team tour to Malta.
